Viewer illustration provenance

The product is vibe-viewer. vibe-view remains a deprecated command alias. The screenshots in this manual come from two distinct sources; neither a repository rename nor a version string proves that a released installer contains the new interface. See names and compatibility.

Accepted source-built captures

Thirteen illustrations were refreshed on 1 November 2026 from rename-aware Viewer source commit 6f0773c5150956ef9e235474a8c781525328faba and adopted in vibe-qc commit 3e68c319c195c45ebb37662538e41156798a5410. These are source-built interface captures, not captures of a renamed release installer. They reuse retained computed water, formaldehyde and NaCl archives. No scientific result was recomputed or substituted during the refresh.

Faithful source and procedure

03-orbital.png, 15-orbital-homo.png, 18-stored-orbital.png

Retained formaldehyde archive; select the molecular-orbital or stored-orbital panel.

14-structure-h2co.png, 04-vibrations.png

Retained formaldehyde archive; select Structure or Vibrations, respectively.

05-periodic-structure.png, 16-periodic-structure.png

Retained NaCl archive; select Structure with the recorded cell display.

06-dos.png, 17-periodic-dos.png

The same NaCl archive; select its stored density of states.

tui-01-structure.svg, tui-02-orbital.svg, tui-03-table.svg

Retained water archive; use the Viewer TUI capture generator for Structure, Orbital and Table.

tui-05-scf.svg

Retained formaldehyde archive; select SCF convergence in the TUI capture generator.

The owning Viewer repository supplies docs/capture_screenshots.py and docs/capture_tui_screenshots.py. Use its recorded capture settings and the exact retained QVF bytes, verify the executable and source commit before capture, and record the input and output SHA-256 digests. Opening an archive is sufficient; a QC build or new calculation is not required. Source-built images can be updated as source-built images; release illustrations require an installed build verified against the corresponding tag first.

Retained historical captures

The original all_sections.qvf used by the following twenty-one assets has not been located. They remain historical, including every frame of the vibration, trajectory and reaction animations. The newer Viewer demonstration fixture is not the original data. Do not use it to recreate these scientific panels under the old filenames.

tui-04-spectrum.svg is also historical. A retained formaldehyde archive is available, but the historical IR intensity/axis scale has not been matched to the current terminal renderer. Recover or verify the exact plotting settings before replacement. Preserve its numeric content and units.

11-qvf-container-submit.png and 12-qvf-container-settled.png also show the pre-rename UI. Their original water job-container inputs, lifecycle state and capture settings have not been verified. Preserve them as historical until those inputs are recovered and checked; a newly constructed pending or settled container would be a different example. No scheduler job is needed or authorized merely to refresh these images.

show-01-structure.svg, show-02-orbital.svg and the title of tui-01-structure.svg contain the supported vibe-view compatibility command. Their filenames and command captions remain accurate; the refreshed TUI body uses the current product name.

Unused historical captures are retained because their original data is missing and they may contain unique evidence. Their lack of a current page reference is not enough reason to delete them. Scientific plots, downloaded calculation outputs and immutable release artwork retain their original results.

Reproduction boundaries

For the existing QVF workflow, use vibe-viewer info example.qvf, vibe-viewer show example.qvf, then vibe-viewer open example.qvf. Choose the recorded section and display controls before capture. For a full animation, record a complete cycle and inspect every frame, including loop boundaries. Do not splice new titles into old captures or alter plotted values.

scripts/render_tutorial_figures.py generates a different tutorial series and runs calculations. It does not recover the missing all-sections fixture and must not be run merely to refresh branding. The maintained example generators under examples/vibe_view/ now print the preferred vibe-viewer command; their scientific inputs and stable directory names are unchanged.
